LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
South Africa is shaping up to be a country of many standards, both good and bad. The events of the past are the backbone to our nation's future. That is why I'm writing to you in deep concern on many factors. I come from a small town on the outskirts of Cape Town and I have a view, probably like no other.
Firstly, there is good news that our hero Nelson Mandela will be finally released from Robben Island, and that he wishes to go forward to get nation's top job of presidency. This is great news for us, it will show our current and past government what South Africa needs, what Africa needs in fact! These governments have done nothing but shame this continent of its people and taking our Africa to their own accord. These Afrikaners are in total control of our currently. If we prevail and get Mandela out of jail, he will show those white mongrels, what a beautiful nation like ours deserves. I am also writing this to advertise a new appeal to raise money in efforts to help out our fellow brothers and sisters in Soweto, our fastest growing city. It may be growing, but it is in the surroundings of poverty and disaster. The donations will be accepted outside Cape Town City Hall.
I am also proposing to you that we organise celebration for our great Mandela's release. I really hope for the amount of time he was in that jail, that he will make Afrikaners in South Africa be sorry for what they did. Along with celebrations we should help people all over South Africa know that we are behind Mandela one hundred percent if he is to win the presidency. Our national flag is currently a disgrace as it is still the apartheid symbol, so far the main cities have proposed a new flag with more colour. Mandela is looking for something along the lines of a 'rainbow nation'. Our other national treasures like sport and national parks must be renamed immediately. Our sport teams must have only South Africans and those who trust Mandela's cause for this nation. I have nothing else of interest, hope we can spread this message all over South Africa!

Dear Editor,
As a person reading the Cape Gazette from Helsinki, I am outraged by what has occurred after the Soweto uprising. There is something seriously wrong in a nation when armed police forces open fire on young kids. Therefore, as the CEO of Nokia, I have embarked on a campaign to boycott South Africa (and its resources) until the government agrees to end its apartheid laws. I have also called on other companies to boycott South Africa (e.g. Nike, Panasonic) until they give black people their rights.
In this way I hope to be able to draw the attention to the injustices and horrors suffered by the Africans of your great nation, and hope that all races can be able to live equally, as quoted by Thomas Jefferson- "All men are created equal."
God bless South Africa!
